Dear Community

It is with great sadness that I need to inform you that Alan Hammond, our school caretaker died today 24th July 2023. Many current and former students will remember Alan for his kindness and generosity.

Alan started with us in 1996 following a period with Holy Cross (Now St Peter’s) where he started in 1988. Alan’s vocation was one of service to this community, he did this without question, he was a truly professional member of our site team. He loved Oaklands and all it stood for and gave of his time without question. For Alan, Oaklands was very much his family.

There is no greater gift than that of service. In St John’s Gospel we read:

“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honour him.”

I am now certain that in this moment God our Father, will honour Alan in Heaven.

I am sure that many of you will want to remember Alan, we will post information on the website and through social media in due course.

May he rest in peace and rise in the glory of the Lord.
